What is Krav Maga?
Krav Maga is a self-defense and fighting system originally created by Imi Lichtenfeld for the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF). It was based on various disciplines, including wrestling, boxing, judo, aikido, and karate. Throughout its history, it has evolved, eventually incorporating elements of jiu-jitsu, muay thai, and taekwondo, among others. Krav Maga is rooted in the idea that avoiding physical confrontation is the best option, but when that option is not available, it may be necessary to dispatch an opponent as quickly and aggressively as possible.
Krav Maga is Hebrew for "Contact Combat". The best known Krav Maga symbol is a combination of the Hebrew "K" and "M". The broken circle symbolizes the system allowing the old, less effective to flow out - letting the newer, more effective to flow in...understanding that evolution is necessary for progress.
